First impression: neat and graphic
After washing at 60 degrees – possible according to the care label – and putting it on, I notice how well the tight fitted sheet sits. The fit is right, the stripes stretch nicely and lie precisely. This immediately gives the bedroom that tidy feeling I had hoped for from this straightforward set.
Details that stand out
The duvet cover has buttons – solid and inconspicuous, even if a zipper is faster. What I miss: inner ties at the corners to fix the duvet. Anyone who moves a lot at night knows the problem. The duvet slips inside the cover. This is not a deal-breaker, but a detail that good bed linen in this price range should actually have.
The pillowcase, on the other hand, positively surprises me: instead of buttons or a zipper, there's a simple flap that extends over the short side of the pillow. Sounds simple, and it is. But especially on the pillow, I'm happy about as few disturbing factors as possible, and this solution holds without being bulky.
In everyday life: more versatile than expected
On particularly hot days, I only sleep under the duvet cover without a duvet. The «Soizic» cotton is not as buttery soft as the Breezyblanket, which I also tested, but it is more versatile and, for the price, much more suitable for everyday use. 100 percent cotton, 57 threads per square centimeter: that's solid mid-range, which doesn't feel synthetic in your sleep.
I still like the colors after a few weeks. The yellow is not garish, but rather sunny and restrained – easy to combine without being boring.
Made in Pakistan – and then what?
The bed linen carries the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certificate, which ensures that the final product contains no harmful substances. It is produced in Pakistan, where La Redoute Intérieurs states that it has been working with the same partner factories for years. The production facilities are regularly audited – the factory in question most recently less than a year ago. In addition, La Redoute is a member of the ICS (Initiative for Compliance and Sustainability), which promotes social and environmental standards in the supply chain.
