Fujifilm expands its lens portfolio with the lightweight super-telephoto Fujinon GF500mmF5.6 R LM OIS WR. This lens offers the longest focal length in the GF series, thereby broadening the application range of the mirrorless GFX cameras, whose large-format sensor is approximately 1.7 times larger than a conventional full-frame sensor. The GF500mmF5.6 R LM OIS WR is exceptionally lightweight and compact for a super-telephoto lens with a focal length of 500 mm (equivalent to 396 mm in full-frame). It weighs only about 1,375 grams, making it ideal for mobile use.
The optical design includes a total of seven Super-ED and ED lenses, which ensure high imaging performance by effectively minimizing chromatic aberrations that typically occur in super-telephoto lenses. The compact construction is primarily due to the use of these specialized glasses. A fast and precise autofocus, along with optical image stabilization of up to six EV stops, completes the features of this new super-telephoto lens.
With the GF500mmF5.6 R LM OIS WR, new possibilities open up in the fields of sports, wildlife, and bird photography, which have previously been reserved for full-frame cameras. Details that are not perceivable to the naked eye are captured with absolute precision, even in handheld shots. Whether it's the beads of sweat on an athlete's forehead or the feathers of a wild bird – every detail is captured with stunning accuracy.
