The Satechi Mac mini M4 Dock is quite slow at 10Gbit/s and does not utilise the speed of the Thunderbolt port at all. The Mac mini M4 docks from Raycue are available with 10 Gbit/s (equally slow), 40 Gbit/s (Thunderbolt 4) and 80 Gbit/s (Thunderbolt 5 for Mac mini with M4 Pro), so that the SSDs are correspondingly fast, e.g. 3500 MB/s with a 40 Gbit/s connection and not just 1000 MB/s as with the Satechi. The cooling is also much better. When will you be able to buy the RayCue Mac mini M4 docks?

Does it keep the internal drive mounted after resuming from sleep? From what I can see the cable is connecting to the 40Gbps Thunderbolt ports at the back. Whenever I connect a Thunderbolt disk to them it's always unplugged when resuming from sleep, but when I connect it to the front 10Gbps it remains mounted upon resume. I wonder if this enclosure is better handled by the fast port, or just like mine.

I bought the Satechi MacMini M4 Hub together with a Kingston NV3 1 TB ssd. The SSD worked after installation. The next day it was no longer readable. Repeated the whole process, same result. The Kingston works perfectly in an external enclosure for SSDs. Does the Satechi Hub have problems with certain SSDs?

Bonjour ! I have the same setup but use a WD Black 850 ssd. Works perfect. There are more people reporting issues with the kingston ssd ( https://www.reddit.com/r... ) but you should always take that with a pinch of salt

How does the Hub or the built-in SSD behave when the Mac Mini is started/restarted or switched off? Is everything automatically mounted without any problems, does the SSD remain permanently mounted for use, or can there be crashes? and is it automatically ejected when switching off? I've never had a hub like this with SSD Enclousure. At the moment I still have a 2012 QuadCore MacMini with Catalina and 4TB SSD 860Evo as a music server, but Catalina no longer receives security updates. I think the price of an M4 MacMini with a 4TB SSD from Apple is completely out of line, but I think the M4 Mini with the smallest configuration is OK in terms of price. If the hub from Satechi works perfectly, that would be a great option, it should only run Asset Upnp from illustrate which manages the music library, it doesn't need CPU power or a lot of RAM, the app is as frugal as a mountain goat ;-)

Hello ! Using the M$ Mini with the Satechi hub now for a month, 2gb WD Black installed. So far works perfect. No crashes, failure notifications, issues with open files... I know a month is not long but with intensive use and no errors ... seems to be a safe choice.

My Samsung 990 Pro SSD gets relatively hot with large amounts of data. Which passive heat sink do you recommend for the SSD as it has a maximum of 5mm space

Hi, I bought the Samsung 990 Pro instead of the Kingston NV3 because the first one didn't work. Samsung works. But I did not use an additional heatsink. I use it for Time Machine backups. So unfortunately can't help. Sorry.

Which storage solution is included here? Or does it have to be purchased separately? If so, is the thermal pad included and the screwdriver to insert a Kingston NV3, for example? Many thanks for any feedback!
