The SparkFun Current Sensor Breakout, ACS723, is a high-precision electronic module designed for measuring AC and DC current. It utilizes the ACS723 sensor, which is based on the Hall effect, to generate a voltage that is proportional to the current flowing through the IP+ and IP- pins. A standout feature of this module is the complete galvanic isolation between the measured current circuit and the circuit that reads the sensor. This allows for safe measurements, even when the circuit operates at higher voltages. The module can measure currents up to 5A and offers a basic sensitivity of 400mV/A. The sensor's bandwidth is set to 20kHz to minimize noise at high gains but can be reset to the full bandwidth of 80kHz by closing a jumper on the board. It is important to note that the board is not designed for voltages above 2.4kV (RMS), although the chip itself is rated for that.
