The masking tape is designed to keep areas on the printed circuit board free from flux and solder. This can include individual contacts and holes as well as entire surfaces on the board. It is particularly recommended when working with a rosin flux later on. The masking tape is applied undiluted to the area that needs to be kept free using a squeeze bottle and can be easily removed without residue after the soldering process.
