Product details

The Thermal Grizzly WireView GPU is a device for measuring and displaying values such as power consumption, voltage, and current of PCI expansion cards like graphics cards with a 12VHPWR power connector. An additional advantage is that the U-shaped design of the adapter allows for optimized cable routing for clean cable management.

What does the WireView GPU do?
The WireView GPU enables the measurement of power consumption of graphics cards and records this data to determine energy usage. This data can be used, among other things, to calculate the electricity costs of a graphics card or to compare the power consumption with other graphics cards. At the same time, the measurement of power consumption can help determine the energy usage of graphics cards over a specific period or during certain applications. Additionally, it can identify power consumption peaks that may occur during the operation of current high-end graphics cards.

The following information can be displayed on the OLED screen of the WireView GPU:

  • Current power consumption in watts [W]
  • Current power consumption in watts [W], voltage in volts [V], and current in amperes [A]
  • Minimum and maximum power consumption in watts [W]
  • Average power consumption averaged over 60 seconds [AVG W] and total energy consumption [E]

Why use a power meter for the graphics card?
The WireView GPU displays the power consumption of a graphics card in real-time. This is particularly interesting for extreme overclockers and hardware reviewers, but it is also helpful when testing the performance of a graphics card. Since no additional software needs to run to capture power consumption, the measurement does not affect benchmark results. When manually overclocking the graphics card (e.g., with MSI Afterburner, ASUS GPU Tweak, EVGA Precision), the adjustments made in the software can be represented in terms of the changed power output.
