Top rated 3D printer filaments

Here’s a ranking of the top rated 3D printer filaments. To give you a quick overview, we’ve added the most important information about each product. This page always stays fresh and updates automatically.

1. Purefil Filament

The Purefil filament line was specially developed for private use. The use of high-quality raw materials creates a 3D printer filament, which is particularly easy to process. A state-of-the-art manufacturing process achieves very low manufacturing tolerances, resulting in convincing printing results with all FDM 3D printers. Each spool is vacuum packed in a high quality bag. In principle, PLA filament or polylactide is biodegradable, whereby certain environmental conditions are necessary, which can usually only be found in industrial composting plants. In nature, PLA normally does not decompose. No PLA filament or printed parts from PLA should therefore be composted.

For industrial applications and processing with our Plastjet machine series, we recommend the Fabru filament, which has been specially developed for industrial use.

PLA filament, or polylactic acid, is fundamentally biodegradable, although certain environmental conditions are necessary for this, which are typically only found in industrial composting facilities. In nature, PLA usually does not decompose. Therefore, we do not recommend composting PLA filament or printed parts made from PLA.

3. Polymaker PolyTerra

PolyTerra PLA is an innovative bioplastic 3D printing filament that is not only harder than conventional PLA but also has a lower environmental impact. By reducing the amount of raw PLA and incorporating organic materials, the plastic content in the material has been decreased by approximately 40%. The added organic materials give PolyTerra PLA a matte finish. Furthermore, Polymaker, the manufacturer of PolyTerra PLA, has partnered with the nonprofit organization One Tree Planted to plant a tree for every spool sold, further emphasizing the eco-friendly aspect of PolyTerra PLA.

4. Creality Filament

The Creality CR-PETG filament has excellent weather and chemical resistance, is odorless, and non-toxic during processing. The finished product features a fine surface with exquisite details. Its outstanding stability and moisture resistance make it an ideal medium for construction pieces that are subjected to greater stresses.

9. Creality Filament PLA Hyper

Thanks to its highly fluid and fast-cooling formula, the Creality Hyper Series PLA supports a printing speed of up to 600 mm/s. The high flowability ensures sufficient melting and extrusion, while the rapid cooling allows for quick shaping during high-speed printing.

10. Bambu Lab PLA Basic

RFID for intelligent printing Experience the future of 3D printing with the Bambu Lab AMS (Automatic Material System). All important printing parameters are stored in a practical RFID chip. The 3D printer can read the print parameters independently. No more tedious settings - simply insert your filament and start the printing process. Enjoy convenient and time-saving operation without complicated manual settings. Reusable spool Bambu Lab's filament system is geared towards an environmentally friendly and reusable spool design, which reduces plastic waste by at least 20 %. Bambu Lab attaches great importance to sustainability and the packaging material has been carefully selected to minimise the use of non-recyclable materials. Further information on the coil design can be found here. You can also print the spools yourself - the appropriate files can be found under this link.
