Reflecta Film Scanner Super 8 - Normal 8
SD card, USB
05.12.2020 / JiJi The big disappointment: according to Youtube videos etc., the Reflecta Super 8 scanner works perfectly and flawlessly. My experience is completely different. I had to run a 7cm reel through the scanner 5 times until the 6th attempt finally worked. The single images in the display are 100% OK. Scanning runs regularly frame by frame (machine scans and whirs "tac-tac-tac. " ) The result, however, is unusable: a single flicker + streaks with no discernible image. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE OR AM I THE ONLY VICTIM OF A "MONDAY MODEL"?
For me, the scan results became unusable from the 40th film onwards due to severe image distortions. I found a video about this error on YouTube: It was due to the SD card! According to this video, the electronics of the scanner cannot cope with certain SD cards in the long run. Moreover, you should not use a Micro SD with an adapter. I then took an old 4GB SD card and everything was fine!
The questioner says nothing about how the recordings are stored. I have successfully digitised several hours of -zig reels with this device this year. I left the settings (sharpness, exposure, etc.) at the factory settings. Only once did I have to adjust the crop setting.
I saved to a SanDisk ExtremePLUS SDHC 32 GB card formatted in the unit itself. Occasionally I saved the files to an external hard drive (under Mac OS) and formatted the card again.
You can hardly do anything wrong. The important thing is the format (N8 or S8) setting and that the film is guided under the two white guides. But that seems to be the case, according to the statement.
Check the memory card (see instructions on page 3). Good luck
