Can anyone tell me if the GH5 is still having focus problems or if Panasonic has now provided a solution?

With firmware 2.3, the problems with the autofocus in videos have been massively reduced, or rather it now works much better than before.
However, it must also be said that the problems have been somewhat exaggerated. After all, autofocus is often not the best choice for video anyway. Focusing manually usually makes more sense anyway.
And the "problems" only concerned autofocus for video anyway, everything else like manual focus or autofocus for photos worked as it should right from the start.

I use the GH5 more for photos. I set the focus field almost exclusively with the joystick, and the results are very good in my opinion. I have also achieved good results with video.
Various shots from small aircraft, or take-offs and landings were good for me. Last week I shot a Bernina train moving (towards me), iO.
As always, there are focus problems sometimes, but mostly it's up to the photographer. I have some experience with photo/video, but the complex settings on the GH5 take time and are a challenge. Use the latest firmware.

I assume you are talking about autofocus in video recording. Yes, there have been improvements. Do a search on YouTube for GH5 autofocus and filter to the latest posts, there's a lot of info there. What you have to understand, though, is that the camera behaves differently than a Sony, for example, because of the method used (DFD - Depth from Defocus), and you therefore have to get to grips with the subject matter.

I would also like to know.
Well, the camera has 2 parameters to adjust the sensitivity of the auto focus.
Try it with these.
