Can I use both parts as nodes? I mean, can I leave my Swisscom router/server and pair the parts with the router?

That would be Bridge Mode. The manufacturer of Linksys says that this is supported.
I have problems with DHCP.
In Bridge mode you can see that the Velop DHCP is active. This is an error and perhaps also a reason why it doesn't work properly. Partly I see on my Android mobile "obtain ip address" and it doesn't work. After a few minutes it works.
Just google Velop & DHCP problems & bridge mode. I'm sure it will be solved eventually. :-(

This works with the bridge mode without any problems; I have two Velops running in combination with a Fritzbox. Certain advanced settings, such as parental control, device prioritisation and user-defined IP addresses, understandably do not work.
