Some of the devices can be configured via the web interface, but not my switch, for example, which still requires the additional JAVA app.

The Cloudkey offers different interfaces:
1: for itself (settings, firmware updates)
2: for the surveillance station
3: for network management

Have a look at the video. Everything is described very well. Even if you don't understand English, you can have a good look at the different interfaces.
