Hello, does this Dell S2417DG monitor have built-in speakers and can I adjust the volume? Thank you.

Indeed there are no speakers on this screen, but a headphone output (3.5mm jack) which redirects the sound from the DisplayPort cable.

And I can only agree with the previous comment, for gaming this screen is magnificent (be careful to have a good graphics card, 165 frames at 1440p per second can bring a system to its knees depending on the quality chosen). A word of advice: with such a high pixel density, there's no need to push the anti-aliasing too much.

For photo editing or video editing on the other hand, I'd rather look at IPS panels.

Hello,

No, to my knowledge there are no built-in speakers. I use it with headphones on a classic "jack" output on the side of the screen. As it's for gaming, I don't have any problems with it. I adjust the sound via my wheel on my Corsair K70 keyboard. But the sound can be adjusted via the sound settings menu in Win10. You just have to tell Windows that the sound device "dell s2417dg" is the default sound device. For the rest the visual quality (and speed) is really good. Attention: it's a TN panel, not IPS or VA. This means that you have to position yourself along the vertical axis in a correct way. Otherwise there is a loss of contrast, which can be annoying for some. Once the screen has been correctly adjusted in height, you can't really tell the difference. I have another IPS screen but it's stuck at 60Hz, so I can see the difference in visual quality. But I would say that the value for money for gaming was really good when I bought it. I don't know the state of the market now. I have an NVidia card and as it's a G-Sync monitor, the choice was more limited than for FreeSync (I think that's still the case). Other gaming monitors were priced around 800-1000 Chf, so this was the best deal for me. I don't regret it.

Hopefully this can help you make an informed choice.

Best regards.
