Question about Microsoft Type Cover

Hello, my partner gave me this Type Cover, the buttons work, but the TouchPad does not. You can't change them in the settings either (not like the old Type Cover). What else can I try? We have already tried several things according to tips from the internet.

I've never had this problem, but you might want to check that your contacts between the Surface and Type Cover are clean.
