can anyone tell me how far away from the transmitter you can be with the headphones so that you can still hear? (I often use the sound coming from my fixed computer but I move around the rest of the flat while still listening...)

Range is great. Presumably also partly dependent on the transmitting device?
I use the headphones mainly in the gym with my iphone, which stays in the wardrobe and then I also move around. Never had a problem with the connection.
It shouldn't be a problem in a flat either.
I'm very happy with them.
