Philips Hue dimmer switch

Philips Hue dimmer switch

Question about Philips Hue dimmer switch

Hello I would like to buy the Hue system for the first time. Is it enough to buy the Philips Hue dimmer switch and lamps as a starter solution? Does it need anything else? Does it need one dimmer switch per Hue lamp? Can I still switch the lamps on and off with the fixed light switch without pressing the dimmer switch? Thank you very much for your help.

Hello
Well, as a starter set you need a Philips Hue lamp (bulb), a Philips Hue Bridge and a switch, for example the Philips Hue Dimmer.
Once you have screwed in the bulb at home, you can connect the bulb and the Philips Hue switch according to the instructions.
When asked if you can still use the switch on the wall that used to switch the lamp on and off, yes and no at the same time, because the lamps are now controlled via the Bridge and always need power.
Of course you can switch off the lamp via the power switch and also switch it on, but you cannot switch it on again with the Philips Hue switch when it is switched off.
I hope I was able to answer your question.
You could delve much deeper into the matter but that would probably only confuse you.
It is also possible to convert the existing switch in a roundabout way, but this is complicated and should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
