Now I'm unpleasantly surprised that I can't transfer my PS4 backup. Indeed, I am only offered to transfer the content of the game itself to the "extended storage", but not my savegame which I am only offered to "delete" or not.

Digitec is not responsible for the internal operation or malfunction of the PS4.
Try putting the default save on the external drive.
Go back into the game and make a new backup.
