I tried this product and was very very disappointed. Mainly because it was impossible to connect it directly to the PC and capture the film frame by frame in order to be able to do post-processing more easily.

It hasn't changed. 
It is not possible to capture the film frame by frame. The camera scans each frame and creates a video file on the memory card which can then be retrieved with a USB cable, or directly from the memory card.
