I would be interested in this graphics card. I have an i7 6700K 4.0GHZ, an Asus Z170 pro Gaming and 2x 8Gb HyperX 2133 RAM. My goal would be to upgrade RAM to 32GB and replace my GTX 960. I could also imagine switching to a Ryzen the next time I upgrade. Now for the problem: I can't install the GK on my mainboard, as it only allows version 3. Unfortunately, I can't filter by version, so as a layman I'm simply overwhelmed... Does anyone have a suggestion for a solution to my problem? I would also be interested in whether I could upgrade hyperx RAM with corsair RAM if the frequency matches. Many thanks, Happy Easter and LG
PCI Express is both downward and upward compatible. It is no problem to plug a PCIe4 card into a PCIe3 slot or vice versa. The bandwidth is simply reduced to the lowest common denominator.
Upgrading RAM in any direction is also no problem, even faster RAM is possible, provided it is supported by the CPU and mainboard. There, too, the speed is limited to the lowest common denominator, so it makes little sense to buy DDR4-3200 RAM, for example, if the CPU can handle a maximum of DDR4-2666. Sometimes the limitation can even be circumvented by overclocking, but that depends very much on the components. What is not possible, however, is to put DDR3 RAM into a DDR4 slot or vice versa.
I had forgotten the ATX form factor and 650W power supply.
