My Dell SB521A soundbar does not work with my Dell 2721Q monitor. Is it possible that I need a USB upstream cable and if so can you recommend one that is safe and compatible?

We connected the monitor with USB-C to the notebook. The soundbar directly to the monitor.

What is a "USB upstream cable"? Yes, the Soundbar must be connected to the computer with a USB cable. If your monitor works as a USB hub, you can also connect the Soundbar there when the monitor is connected to the computer via USB. Windows will then recognise the Soundbar as a new speaker. If you have connected several speakers, you still have to select the Soundbar via the speaker symbol at the bottom right of the task list.
