special question...: can the part also be glued on? I would need it as a child safety lock on a glass door, i.e. only temporarily, and don't want to drill any holes. Or to put it another way: is the back flat, and how big is the possible adhesive surface?

The individual components can be seen in the assembly instructions under the following link:

The base plate supplied for the back is pre-drilled with holes and is therefore not flat.
