The Alps in spectacular panoramic maps, now as a special edition. This volume presents panoramic maps from the 1950s to the present day from all Alpine regions, from the Slovenian Julian Alps to the high mountain area around Mont Blanc. Fascinating winter depictions, where the unique topography of the landscape is particularly highlighted by the snow, are accompanied by equally detailed summer maps. In the age of Photoshop and GPS, hand-drawn panoramic maps exert a special allure. The images are created based on panoramic photographs, mostly taken by the cartographers themselves from helicopters. Originally intended as a basis for ski maps, these panoramas have evolved into independent works of art that evoke memories of the large map tables in geography classes for representatives of the older generation and offer a whole new perspective on the world for subsequent digital natives.
