There's always something happening with the Hackebarts: Dad Walter is a stay-at-home parent and mostly a single father, as Mom Adrijana earns the money as a truck driver and is often on the road in the Balkans for weeks at a time. Each of the children has a special talent: Thirteen-year-old Brooklyn is very sensible, eleven-year-old Zosch is an athlete and passionate gamer (especially Brawl Stars). Six-year-old Lulu is the youngest and exceptionally gifted, while eight-year-old Mönkemeier lives solely for art. He particularly admires the abstract paintings of the early 20th century.

When Mönkemeier discovers a painting from the late phase of his idol Kazimir Severinovich Malevich (Landscape with Five Houses) at the museum, which actually depicts realistically painted houses, he spontaneously grabs some oil paint and "improves" the artwork (Landscape). The damage is significant and must be paid for. Therefore, Brooklyn suggests that the entire family, including Grandpa Kuno, apply for the family special of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? With Lulu, who has been memorizing Wikipedia articles since her fourth birthday, the Hackebarts believe they have a good chance of winning a large prize.
