Cornelia Funke, born in 1958, is one of the most internationally successful and well-known German authors of children's and young adult literature. The U.S. magazine "Time" named her one of the 100 most influential people of 2005, and in 2007, ZDF honored her as one of the 50 "Best German Women." She has received numerous awards for her books, including the German Youth Literature Prize in 2020 for her body of work. Cornelia Funke lives in Tuscany, Italy.

Julia Sophie Plath, born in 1993, studied illustration in Hamburg. In her work as an illustrator in the field of book and media illustration, her pieces particularly reflect psychological and philosophical themes. She is part of Cornelia Funke's residency program and an alumna of the stART.up scholarship from the Claussens Simon Foundation.
