The scanner is primarily designed for fast and efficient document scanning, but also supports colour photo scanning with a resolution of 600 x 600 dpi. It is generally suitable for scanning photos, but the image quality for high-quality photo prints or archiving purposes may not be comparable with specialised photo scanners.

The automatic document feeder (ADF) is not ideal for photos as it is optimised for paper documents. For individual photos, scanning via the flatbed option is recommended if available - however, the DR-C225 II does not have an integrated flatbed, so you will need to scan photos via the ADF, which increases the risk of damage and may affect quality.

The scanner can be used for occasional, quick scanning of photos, but it is not the first choice for professional photo archiving or high quality requirements.
