Can I switch off the WiFi connection easily? I don't want the Chinese to sneak into my bedroom around the clock.

I don't understand the question. The clock is a Google Home Assistant. If you switch off the network, it won't show you the current weather, remind you of appointments or control the Smart Home. Then you'd better buy a very simple clock for your desk.
