Can the display be switched completely dark at night and light up when the snooze button is pressed or does it always light up dimly? (Wasn't quite clear in the answer to another question).

The display illumination adapts to the ambient brightness and automatically dims to very dark at night, so that it is not disturbing at all (you can hardly recognise the digits then). However, it is not possible to dim it manually or switch it off completely.
