I have been using the machine for about a year now and the gap where you insert the attachments and then hook them in by turning them, keeps opening up, causing the attachments to "egg" slightly. Does anyone know if this problem can be solved?

I would leave that and return the machine (guarantee). There should be nothing oozing!
