Product details

The Ortles Guide with a volume of 35 litres is a lightweight, robust backpack designed for progressive alpinism. The latest technical developments enable the production of significantly lighter backpacks that allow faster, further and safer movements in high alpine terrain. The Dry Back Contact carrying system features a padded EVA back panel and 3D ventilation channels that improve air circulation and breathability. With flat, split shoulder straps and an adjustable chest strap, the backpack stays close to the body and offers maximum freedom of movement. To allow quick access to your equipment, the backpack has a roll-top closure, direct access via a side, water-resistant YKK zip and a separate front compartment that is ideal for storing avalanche equipment. You can reduce the weight of the rucksack by removing the removable, height-adjustable lid and the padding on the hip belt. This rucksack is equipped with a tube guide and an outlet for use with a hydration system. It also has load control and side compression straps as well as a rope strap with magnetic fastener at the top for securely stowing equipment. Additional attachment options are available for trekking poles, skis (both parallel and diagonal with detachable straps) and an ice tool in the front area.

  • PositiveSeat & ventilation
  • Negativehard pads

The slim, robust and recycled, almost rainproof backpack presses against the upright, ventilated, dry back, but the foam padding is hard and the zips are not completely tight. The lid and hip padding are removable. Also suitable for ski tours

Instead of a flat foam panel, Salewa has punched slits into the back panel of the Ortles Guide 18. They improve ventilation, but the firm edges also pinch a little - especially if you're only wearing a thin shirt under the softshell. The load control, on the other hand, is top notch...
