Is the USB-C port only used to charge the pump or can I also use the pump as a power bank to charge my smartphone, for example?

I haven't tried it; it doesn't make sense to make the purchase of the compressor dependent on it:
If I have the compressor in the car, I also have a 12V connection or a USB socket to charge my smartphone.

And it doesn't make sense to use the compressor while travelling either: you have to carry the robust housing, the pump
and the connection hose for a few milliamp hours.
