Product details
The temperature sensor from Victron Energy can be used with the battery monitors BMV-702, BMV-712, and the VE.Bus Smart Dongle. The two-wire cable features a temperature sensor encased in a ring terminal. The ring terminal is connected to the positive terminal of the battery being monitored. The red cable end – with the integrated fuse – is connected to terminal B1 on the shunt, while the black cable end is connected to terminal B2.
Notes: Terminal B2 on the shunt is generally available for basic monitoring of a second battery (starter battery), for midpoint voltage monitoring, or for temperature monitoring. Only one of these three options can be used; multiple uses are not possible. The measured temperature can be displayed in degrees Celsius or degrees Fahrenheit on the monitor. Temperature measurement can also be used to adjust the available battery capacity according to the battery temperature. The available battery capacity decreases as the battery temperature drops. Compared to the capacity of a battery at 20 °C, the capacity at 0 °C drops by 18% and at -20 °C by 40%. The battery monitor takes this into account in its calculations, ensuring that there is always an accurate capacity display on the monitor at any battery temperature.
Technical specifications: Cable length: 3 meters, number of wires: 2, connections: M10 ring terminal to ferrules.
