At the beginning of the game, each player must solve a specific number of tasks to create a personal board made up of letters that form a meaningful sentence. Once a player has completed their tasks in Lettera!, all players must draw a new letter from the center of the playing area and form their own words. A player can also shout "Swap!" and return one of their letters to the pile before drawing three new ones at random. If a player successfully places their letters in the center, the player who has managed to place their own letters is declared the winner.
