The Jagdpanzer V 'Jagdpanther', classified by the Allies as a Heavy Tank Killer, was considered the best and most successful tank destroyer of World War II. Series production began in January 1944, and the Jagdpanther was first deployed in June 1944. However, it did not appear in sufficient numbers on the battlefield to be decisive in the war. It was armed with an 8.8 cm L/71 gun from the King Tiger, as well as a 7.92 mm front-mounted machine gun. During the Ardennes Offensive, Jagdpanthers knocked out a large number of Allied tanks.
