The display model is a replica of the BR50 locomotive, which was developed in 1937 as a powerful freight transport locomotive for use on branch lines. With a total of 3,164 locomotives produced by almost all German manufacturers between 1938 and 1945, the BR50 was one of the most commonly used classes of steam locomotives in Germany. Due to the war, the last series was technically simplified and referred to as BR50 UK, which stands for conversion war locomotive. Weighing 16 tons, the BR50 was universally deployable due to its low axle load.
