Product details
In 1963, Hans Glas knew what he owed his customers with the 1600 Cabriolet: sportiness combined with the elegance of the body line, designed by the Italian coachbuilder Frua, whether the convertible was driven open or closed. Later taken over by BMW, there were only a few convertibles of the BMW 1600 GT before the fate of the charming Glas body was ultimately sealed. The WIKING model features a nearly forgotten classic from the 1960s. From autumn 1967 to summer 1968, BMW continued the sporty series from Glas after the company takeover, but it was not meant to exceed the character of a proverbial end-of-line model. After acquiring the Dingolfing car manufacturer Glas, it was only logical for the new BMW owners to prominently place their brand logo on the hood and to have the brand-typical kidney grille design on the radiator. The body is yellow, while the chassis, convertible top, and interior are black. Both the bumpers and rearview mirrors are finished in silver. The front headlights are transparent, with orange front turn signals and red printed taillights. The rims are silver. The black grille features a blue and white BMW logo. On the rear, the silver lettering "1600 GT" and the BMW logo are printed, and the window trim is silvered.
