My Essence favourites: 5 products you can't do without!
by Natalie Hemengül
Just because you use a product a lot doesn’t mean it’s perfect. These Catrice beauty products are the ones I use all the time. Two of them are disappointing.
As I already announced here, I’ve had my eye on Catrice’s new blush line. Now that I’ve tried a blush from the collection, I can confirm: it’s as good as it looks. Its fine texture envelops my cheeks in a veil of colour and glow. Plus, you can wear it subtly or go all in for a more striking look. Bonus points for the soft-touch packaging.
I can’t remember the last time I used a gloss so often. The see-through formula of this product nourishes the lips and feels more like a lip oil than your classic gloss. It also has a pleasant vanilla scent and slim packaging for on-the-go use. What more could you want?
This liquid bronzer impresses with its light, easily blendable formula. However, the colour 5 Tan Lines is too greyish for my taste. In fact, so much so that I can’t even use it for contouring (remember, bronzers are meant to add warmth to the face, products for contouring should create shadows). To avoid chucking the product, I had to get creative. I now mix it with my other liquid bronzer I find too warm (another bad purchase) to correct the undertone.
As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
This is a subjective opinion of the editorial team. It doesn't necessarily reflect the position of the company.
Show allSince my favourite nail polish of all time (Essie’s Inside Scoop) is no longer available, I’ve been searching for that perfect shade: a milky pink, not too cool, not too warm, not opaque. In my frenzy to find an alternative, I bought countless varnishes. I came closest to the original by mixing two colours from the Sheer Beauties series: first a layer of 100 Lavender Whispers followed by a layer of 40 Fluffy Cotton Candy. After about four days, however, the colour changed and a yellowish haze started to appear on my nails. I plan on finishing the varnishes, but wouldn’t recommend them. Unless you’re up for brushing up your manicure every few days.
I had zero expectations of this mascara. Now I use it alongside my beloved brown-black Lash Princess. 010 Panda-Proof Black relies on what’s known as tubing formula. This means that the lashes are coated in a tubular shape, which gives them both volume and length. No smudging, no crumbling. In theory, you can «pull off» these polymers from your lashes with just a little dexterity and warm water. However, I find it easier to take off with a regular eye make-up remover.
