HBO confirms second season of "The Last of Us" - and Amazon plans "Tomb Raider"
News from the game adaptation front: HBO has ordered a second season for "The Last of Us". And: Amazon wants to follow suit with a "Tomb Raider" series in the same category and has already signed an author.
"I'm impressed, honoured and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have tuned in and connected with our retelling of Joel and Ellie's journey," says Neil Druckmann, executive producer, author and co-director of the series and game director of the game. The cast, crew and executives at HBO have exceeded his already high expectations. The second season is set to build on the success of the first.
Amazon wants to adapt "Tomb Raider"
None other than Phoebe Waller-Bridge has reportedly been hired as the author. She has won several Golden Globes and Emmys in the British drama series "Fleabag", which is produced by Amazon. The confidence in her abilities is correspondingly high. Unlike in "Fleabag", however, Waller-Bridge is not expected to write her own role in the "Tomb Raider" series.
I write about technology as if it were cinema, and about films as if they were real life. Between bits and blockbusters, I’m after stories that move people, not just generate clicks. And yes – sometimes I listen to film scores louder than I probably should.
