Roses are red ... and so is my new go-to foundation

When it comes to complexion products, I'm on a roll. After my recent skin tint discovery, I now have a new favourite foundation.

The "Mask Fit Red Cushion Foundation" from the Korean brand Tirtir is already past its hype peak. That was in 2024, so I'm a little "late" with my test. But what was good a few months ago should still be a hit now, right? Especially as we now finally have the bestseller with the iconic red packaging in our range.

This is what the foundation promises

  • Full coverage with a light formula
  • 72 hours hold (um, ok?)
  • sweat and transfer resistant
  • no settling in the wrinkles
  • smoothing airbrushed effect
  • 24-hour hold under a mask

Choice of colours

On Galaxus, we only stock a fraction of the shades. However, Tirtir has a total of 40 colours, which is quite a lot. Brilliant, because it means that as many skin tones and undertones as possible are represented. However, this also makes it difficult to make the right choice from a few pictures on the screen. I am unsure and therefore order two

Format

A cushion foundation combines the advantages of a liquid foundation with those of a powder format. The make-up sits in a fully absorbed sponge and is leak-proof. This makes it much easier to carry around and touch up on the go thanks to the integrated mirror and oval finger applicator. The latter sits practically between the mirror and cover.

There are two sizes of the foundation. A regular one with 18 grams of product and a handbag-friendly mini version with 4.5 grams. The travel size is of course cheaper and is therefore also suitable for people who want to try out the product first.

Application and opacity

The first few times I apply the foundation with the enclosed applicator, as I have seen in the numerous tutorials. Tap, tap, tap I tap the product into my skin. This achieves a particularly opaque result - after just one layer. In general, the formula is very pigmented for being so light. I therefore only need a little product.

Finish and wear time

The foundation fits like a second skin. The finish? A natural satin. Something between glowy and matte. Tirtir calls it semi-matte.

Vegan and cruelty-free?

Unfortunately, the information regarding the production and content online is contradictory. I therefore enquired with the brand and unfortunately have not (yet) received an answer.

If you're more the skin tint type, I have a brand new recommendation for you:

In a nutshell

You can rely on this foundation

I am deeply impressed. Tirtir's "Mask Fit Red Cushion Foundation" does pretty much everything that everyday life brings with it and cuts a fantastic figure. It offers a natural-looking result with high coverage, a pleasantly light feel and a practical format. And all this at a comparatively affordable price. In my opinion, this product should suit all skin types.

Pro

  • High opacity, but can be varied flexibly
  • Practical format, available in two sizes
  • Lasts damn well and long on the skin
  • Lightweight formula ensures a comfortable fit
  • Price

Contra

  • Perfuming

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
