Tops and flops from the comms department: how the Community reacted to our stories

Radical honesty is our credo – be it genuine customer reviews or by transparently disclosing the price development or warranty case rate of our products. This also applies to communication: we share data-based, unvarnished insights with our community and media professionals. Read on to find out which 2024 stories were the high-flyers and which wallowed in the mud.

The Digitec Galaxus communications team has written over 100 data stories from the world of e-commerce this year. These are displayed as content on the company’s own online stores in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands. Now we’re looking back and take stock. Let’s find out what the Community celebrated this year and what they were less interested in.

By Community, we mean our customers. A truly active group: members both buy products and review them. In the same vein, they both consume content and add likes and comments.

Adult toys generate the most views

Many of the things we did in climate compensation received little attention from the community. That article recorded the fewest views.

Knowing which products are bought most frequently during the Christmas period probably stimulates your own shopping behaviour. Only 16 per cent of users who read our Santa article left the online store afterwards. The remaining 84 per cent either read other articles or felt inspired to look for suitable Christmas gifts in the online store themselves.

Smartphones polarise

Smartphone-related topics seem to be very enticing. They prompted the most comments from the 2024 Community. They were the most polarising too.

The ratio between likes and comments was used as a guide here. More comments than likes are a characteristic of a controversial topic.

The article on folding and flip phones had the highest score in this regard. It generated 27 per cent more comments than likes.

Top articles per language: drones, sneakers and jobs in logistics

French-speaking visitors to Galaxus and Digitec were most interested in the world’s fastest camera drone. That report received the most views.

The English-speaking community was most interested in newly created jobs at the future logistics site in Neuenburg, Germany.

Our sneaker report achieved the most views in Italian.

We would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to our colleagues in our Language Services team, who translate content across our stores into French, Italian and English.

And many thanks to our Community for reading, clicking and commenting so diligently.

What topics have you been particularly interested in this year? What would you like to read more or less about next year? Thanks for letting us know in the comments!

Studies claim that we have a shorter attention span than goldfish. Ouch! My job is to get your attention as often and for as long as possible. How? With content you enjoy. Outside of the office, you’ll find me on the tennis court, curled up with a book, Netflixing or travelling.
