Underappreciated summer heroes: 9 stylish doorstops

Some everyday objects are just out there, quietly doing their thing and making our lives better. Take doorstops, for example. In summertime especially, they keep doors and windows from slamming shut. They’re small, useful and always right there when you need them.
A sudden gust of wind once caused my kitchen door to slam so hard that the glass inside it shattered. I then had to fork out for an expensive handyman to get it fixed. Since then, I’ve realised that doorstops are an absolute must-have when you’re airing out your home. They protect windows from damage caused by unexpected gusts of wind, especially during summer storms.
Plus, they can add accents to a room. From minimalist blocks to charming animal figures, doorstops come in a variety of shapes to suit pretty much any taste.
Here’s a list of my personal favourites.
1. Understated wooden wedge
This beech wood door wedge has won me over with its natural look and convenient leather handle. Its unobtrusive design goes well with a wide variety of interior design styles.

2. Snail-shaped, but ready for speedy gusts
With its clever, snail-shaped design, this stopper keeps doors, windows and drawers from slamming. If you’re not big on beige, there are other colours to choose from, including subtle greys and mint green.

3. Double-sided grip with style
This stopper’s patented Jamm design guarantees that your doors won’t budge in a gust of wind. If you slide it under a door, it’ll hold it reliably from both sides.
