FiiO

The FiiO M21 is a compact high-res audio player with an Android operating system. The fast Snapdragon 680 octa-core processor and 4 gigabytes of RAM ensure smooth operation of the Android system and all apps from the streaming services of your choice. The four CS43198 DAC chips convert all common digital formats up to 384 kHz at 24 bit, DSD512 and MQA x8. The M21 plays music either from the 64 GB internal memory or from an additional microSD card. You can use streaming services via WLAN, play music via DLNA or ROON, and stream directly to the device with Apple devices via AirPlay. Via USB, it offers a USB DAC mode for computers and an OTG mode as a streamer.

Bluetooth works both as a receiver, for example from a laptop, and as a transmitter, for example to headphones or speakers. The M21 doesn't just feel at home on the move - it can also show what it can do when stationary. It has a desktop mode for this purpose. This mode bypasses the battery and thus protects it in the long term. As a stationary player, you can use the unbalanced 3.5 mm or the balanced 4.4 mm output as a line-out. The 3.5 mm output can also be used as a digital coaxial output. If the M21 is connected to an optional USB-C power supply unit, it offers up to 950 mW of power for headphones in super-high gain mode. Even in battery mode, it delivers enough power (up to 720 mW) to drive even demanding headphones with ease. The scope of delivery includes a pre-installed screen protector and a blue imitation leather case. This protects the M21 from the very first moment of daily use. The compact size, the battery life of up to 15 hours and the wide range of possibilities make the M21 a versatile all-rounder that you won't want to let go of.

Audio formats

An audio format is a medium for storing sound and music. The term is applied to both the physical recording media and the recording formats of the audio content – in computer science it is often limited to the audio file format, but its wider use usually refers to the physical method used to store the data.
Music is recorded and distributed using a variety of audio formats, some of which store additional information.
