The Wirewin S/FTP patch cables are characterized by their high quality and are suitable for Gigabit or 10-Gigabit connections with operating frequencies of up to 500 MHz. Applications for Category 6A cables include voice, multimedia, and data transmission as well as ATM networks. The wires are made of 100% copper and are double-shielded. A wire is a conductor made up of many thin individual strands, making it flexible. Additionally, it offers high tensile strength. The cable also features strain relief. Unlike conventional PVC cables, these cables are halogen-free: the dangerous release of halogen-containing combustion gases is therefore excluded. Another advantage is that the exposure to toxic gases, such as hydrogen chloride gas from PVC, is minimized. Halogen-free cables are also flame-retardant and do not exhibit a dangerous fuse effect. Furthermore, halogen-free cables produce low smoke in the event of a fire.
