Cyberlink Power2Go is included as software. However, it does not say which version it is. Can anyone help me here? Or to put it another way: Can I watch DVD films with this software?

Just download the VLC player (freeware), with which you can simply watch everything.

I think so, because it is recognised by the bios like an internal drive and is also assigned a drive letter.
I would say at system startup simply press (for Asus it is F12) to get to the boot menu, if it is listed there you can also use it to install. I myself only install via USB stick. Must have at least 16 GB for Windows 10. The boot stick can be easily created using the Windows Media Creation

You need two USB 2 ports for this drive. If you only have one free, then you just have to take one of these or see if there are external drives with USB 3. The voltage for USB 2 is always 5 volts, for USB 3 up to 20 volts.
