I found a dedicated service technician who was at least able to fix the scanner ejector

So of course that's not true at all.
I have just tested it quickly:
- In the Android app from Epson, you can select a maximum of 600 dpi.
- In the Epson Scan app on my Windows 11 laptop, I can scan at a maximum of 1200 dpi.
So you can scan at exactly the resolution listed in the specification.

If you have 2-sided documents, then you can't use the ADF. I got upset about that at first too.

The device cannot scan double pages automatically. It has an automatic document feeder, but does not support duplex scanning. You have to turn the pages manually to scan both sides.

I recently ordered the ...402 for 349.-.
All the colours were supplied, there are even two bottles of the black colour. In the meantime, I printed out photos in 10x15cm format, on old photo paper that was lying around, and the photos are quite ok.
I have connected my printer serially. The scan resolution is ok for me, I don't have a photoscan so I can't judge. For my applications the printer is ok.
In the meantime, the price of the model with the higher price tag has been reduced. The differences are only that the product with the higher price tag SKU C11CJ60401 is a version for the UK market.

The LAN/WiFi connection is one or the other, so you cant have both. But not sure about the USB, I guess you probably could.
Yes you can print directly from your Android using the EPSON Panels app. In fact you can even print from your phone via data connection [i.e. not at home on the same network] - it will print it out the next time it is turned on [stored fro 72 hrs].

For photo printing, it is better to buy a photo printer. I tried it once but unfortunately not so good. Maybe you can calibrate something.
