No, HDMI 2.0b with HDCP 2.2
For a PC there is no need for this box, what you are looking for is probably the Hue Sync Desktop App for Windows or MacOS: https://www.philips-hue.com/fr-ch/explore-hue/propositions/entertainment/sync-with-pc
This software works via the Hue Bridge to synchronise with Hue Color, Play and Gradient devices.
The box you are asking about is intended to be inserted between the HDMI output of a game console (Xbox, Playstation), a multimedia player (nVidia Shield, Apple TV, ...) or a DVD / Bluray player and the HDMI input of the TV.
On a PC, especially for games, you should preferably use the Displayport output, which offers better bandwidth, rather than the HDMI output of the graphics card. It is indeed technically possible to put this box between the HDMI output of a video card for example of a media PC and a TV, but the interest remains limited.
The TV signal must pass through the sync box, i.e. TV box > sync box > TV. Otherwise the sync box will not receive anything from the signal.
I had the same problem. After restarting the Apple TV and the Syncbox, it worked again.
Unfortunately I can't answer because I need an adapter
Hi,
You have 2 ways to drive Philips Hue immersive lighting:
OPTION-1. you rely on the Philips Hue box
OPTION-2. you rely on the Philips Hue SW
OPTION-1 benefits:
- can be used without SW (e.g. on a TV set)
- not intrusive (does not "overload" your PC.. even if the SW is really light)
=> I use it on my TV set
OPTION-2 benefits:
- cheaper
- does not require a configuration SW on the phone
=> I use it for gaming on my PC
Out of scope, but I cannot resist: Razer devices? Really?
I had read in a Digitec blog article that they are expected to be included in the shop from 12 September. Hopefully not for the overpriced price that Philips Switzerland is charging.
