I don't see that you can set the duration in my manual....
It works the same for me as it does for you/as described in the manual.

The display darkens when the room is darkened, if it always remains dark, there may be something in front of the sensor so that no light reaches the sensor, it is more likely that there is a defect. If the display remains completely dark, it is probably defective.

The display illumination adapts to the ambient brightness and automatically dims to very dark at night, so that it is not disturbing at all (you can hardly recognise the digits then). However, it is not possible to dim it manually or switch it off completely.

It is not a radio clock, but the time can also be set automatically and accurately using the FM or DAB signal.
The alarm time is displayed in hrs/min when you change it. But not when the alarm is set or it is turned on/off.

Well, it's an alarm clock radio and not a hi-fi set. The sound is not great, but ok, which is also reflected in the reviews. Small, chic housing with a small speaker that radiates to the ceiling. I think the sound of the Siesta Rise is flat, but not dull.
