The D fuse system is a first-generation screw fuse system that is still widely used in installations. It is applied in low-voltage systems where the fuse inserts are accessible to non-professionals and can be replaced by them. The D fuse range includes sizes NDZ, DII, DIII, DIV, and DV. D fuse bases with D fuse inserts of operational class gG are used to protect lines and installations. D fuse inserts safely disconnect unacceptable overcurrents and short-circuit currents up to the rated disconnecting current. They also protect electrical devices and installations from the electrodynamic effects of high short-circuit currents. The screw inserts and the design of the fuses ensure that no larger fuses can be screwed in than what is permissible for the line.
