How much current does the unit need when it is switched off but plugged in? Or in other words, does it drain the battery over time even in OFF mode? A small problem. The holder with the ball head is not so practical because the device moves when the buttons are pressed. You should be able to lock the ball head. Otherwise, everything worked straight away via a VHF frequency. Unfortunately, there are no free frequencies in Switzerland. So it has to be operated via a frequency that is very far away from the usual routing. By the way, you can find it here: http://www.bandscan.de/listen/schweiz.php

Does the device switch itself on again automatically after the ignition has been switched off and on again? Or does the unit have to be switched on manually every time the vehicle is parked?

Yes, the unit switches on again when the ignition is turned on. If it has been switched off manually, it remains switched off even when the car is switched off and on again.
