The SPAX typical drive T-STAR plus is a so-called internal hexagon. This shape increases the contact area, allowing the T-STAR plus bits to fit optimally in the screw head. The best possible power transfer from the driver to the screw through T-STAR plus enables quick work, and it is significantly more efficient than all other drives.
The countersunk head (or flat countersunk head) carves a recess into the wood with its polygonal underside ("pockets") and can therefore be sunk without additional countersinking of the screw hole. The countersunk head sits flush with the surface.
The screws with partial thread are excellent for fastening thin components such as wood-based panels, boards, or planks to thicker components like beams or posts. The short thread screws into the thick component, while the unthreaded shank remains in the attachment component. This creates maximum clamping pressure between the two. The unthreaded part should be at least as thick as the attachment component.
The CUT tip of our SPAX screws allows for extremely fast and effective driving without pre-drilling. The arrow-shaped CUT tip, combined with the shaft profile, reduces splitting and tearing of the wood. Additionally, the CUT tip enables very precise and slip-resistant placement of the screw tip even on smooth surfaces.
With WIROX, SPAX has developed a coating that is far superior to galvanization in terms of corrosion protection. WIROX does not use chromium (VI), and the screws remain just as durable and environmentally friendly even after years in outdoor areas not directly exposed to the elements. WIROX screws are the first choice for all open structures without direct weather exposure, such as carports or pergolas. For direct weather exposure, such as on terraces, we recommend our screws in stainless steel.
