The Weidmüller surge protection devices of series VPU I (Type I), VPU II (Type II), and VPU III (Type III) effectively reduce interference caused by transient overvoltages, even significantly below the limits set by insulation coordination according to EN 60664-3 / DIN VDE 0110-3. This results in the entire system being exposed to fewer disturbances. The coordination of the surge protectors is achieved through technical means, so no decoupling between Types I, II, and III is necessary. The surge protectors are tested according to the product standard IEC 61643-11 / DIN EN 61643-11 and can be installed in systems according to IEC 61643-12 / VDE 0675-6-12 or IEC 62305-4 / VDE 0185-4. This lightning and surge protection is suitable for use in power supply systems. Depending on the network configuration and voltage level, Weidmüller offers different products. There is even specific protection available for photovoltaic applications in Types I and II.
