Behind the scenes
Digitec Galaxus is 25 years old – and still going strong
by Manuel Wenk

Digitec Galaxus is celebrating 25 years of existence. In our magazine, we’ll be taking a look at the past as well as the future. You’ll find all related articles here.
My colleague Manuel Wenk has taken on the role of our in-house historian. He’s unearthed some interesting artefacts in the process, such as screenshots of the first few iterations of the digitec.ch website. Curious to know how a 25-square-metre office spawned a major online retailer? You’ll find the story below.
What drives Florian Teuteberg and Oliver Herren to this day? Twenty-five years ago, they co-founded Digitec Galaxus and have since turned it into the market leader. In a video interview, the CEO and CIO talk about moments of doubt on the journey and how important company culture is to them.
Galaxus may be the bigger shop today. But Digitec is the company’s founding stone. The online shop digitec.ch was the go-to for many gamers looking to upgrade their computers and the first retailer to bring the iPhone to Switzerland.
The editorial team has released a video commemorating said iPhone, where editor David Lee tested the phone’s capabilities in modern times.
You can also follow Digitec and Galaxus on social media platforms. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be making the odd anniversary post on LinkedIn. The same goes for Instagram and TikTok – where you can expect a healthy dose of humour.
This article will be updated continuously. All content published in connection with our 25-year anniversary will be linked here.
